At the core of great life coaching is a rich conversation between coach and coachee (that’s you). In essence, what the coach does is to help you figure out how to move from where you are, to where you want to be.

There are many different ways of doing this, but they’ll all centre around raising your awareness. Some coachees find great discoveries about themselves; their perspectives, values and beliefs become sharper. Others are simply able to use the sessions as an opportunity to figure out what external action to take. A great life coach helps you get out of your own way, without imposing their advice, opinions or beliefs upon you.

To oversimplify it – therapy is reparative in nature, and can involve spending time going backwards on the root causes of what they might consider to be poor mental health, for the purposes of healing.
Life Coaching on the other hand, is more interested in change and action – a great Coach rarely asks ‘Why?’ but instead helps you raise your awareness and is focused on your development and moving forwards.

Life Coaching CAN be therapeutic, but it’s not therapy.

We’re highly qualified with different qualifications, all recognised by the ICF (International Coaching Federation) the leading global organisation for coaches and coaching. We are members of the Association for Coaching and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.

Sadly, coaching is an unregulated industry and there are a lot of untrained people claiming to be coaches without ANY decent training!

Also many coaches (like counsellors) decide to become coaches in an attempt to understand  and ‘fix’ themselves. Icarus coaches had decades of experience in training prior to becoming brilliant well-balanced coaches.
